Live updates as Ryanair, Sky News and supermarkets are hit by a huge IT outage

Ryanair, Sky News and other major companies – including banks and supermarkets – are among the businesses affected by a major global technology problem.

On X, formerly Twitter, Ryanair said: “We are currently experiencing network disruption due to a global IT outage, which is outside of our control. We advise all passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their schedule. time to go.”




Sky News was off air this morning, with Sky News sports presenter Jacquie Beltrao posting on X: “Obviously we’re not on air – we’re trying.”

Microsoft 365 says it’s looking into an issue that affects users’ ability to access apps and services.

They told X this morning: “Our services continue to see continuous improvement as we continue to take mitigation measures. We still expect users to continue to see gradual relief as we continue to mitigate the issue.”

Update from Merseyrail

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Merseyrail said: “Due to a Microsoft outage we are currently experiencing a technical issue affecting our passenger information boards and our ability to print third party tickets in stations.

“Some network delays may not be displayed. We are working hard to fix this issue.”

Northern Rail has been hit by an IT outage

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, it said: “We are currently experiencing widespread IT issues across our network, which is related to the issues affecting many industries and businesses this morning.

“Trains are still running but information systems may not be displayed and we cannot provide information about disruptions in the same ways as usual. We will continue to add disruptions to our X stream when known.”

Microsoft 365 has released an update regarding the massive IT issue affecting systems around the world.

Britain’s biggest rail company has warned passengers to expect disruption due to “widespread IT issues”. Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) – the parent company of Southern, Thameslink, Gatwick Express and Great Northern – issued an alert on the brands’ social media channels.

The message read: “We are currently experiencing widespread IT issues across our network. Our IT teams are actively investigating to determine the root cause of the issue. We are unable to access driver charts in some locations, leading to potential cancellations at short notice, particularly on the Thameslink and Great Northern networks.

Sky News was also taken down online and issued a statement saying: “We apologize for the interruption of this broadcast. We hope to restore Sky News coverage soon.” “While Ryanair warned of ‘potential network disruptions’ due to a global third-party system outage.

Ryanair ‘currently experiencing disruption’

In a tweet on X, formerly Twitter, Ryanair said: “We are currently experiencing a network outage due to a global IT outage that is beyond our control. We advise all passengers to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours. before their scheduled departure time.

“If you are traveling today and have not already checked in for your flight, you can do so at the airport. We apologize for any inconvenience caused as a result of this global IT outage.”
