Bradford man arrested after failing to complete contract

(WJET/WFXP) – A McKean County man is facing numerous charges after state police say he collected money for a job he never completed.

Troopers from PSP Lewis were called to a home along McCrea Brooke Rd. on July 2 for the alleged theft, with the victim saying he hired the contractor for a job on April 23 and provided a down payment.

After cashing the check for $5,185.81, the contractor, identified as Christopher Kirk, 39, of Bradford, never completed the work or returned the money.

Kirk was charged with felony failure to comply with a home improvement agreement, two counts of theft by deception, unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Kirk is scheduled to appear in McKean County court on July 29.
