All flights delayed and canceled at Manchester Airport due to IT outage

A global IT outage has caused major problems for many airports, including Manchester. Microsoft’s problem has also caused banks, telecommunications firms, TV stations, broadcasters and supermarkets to struggle.

Many passengers took to social media to air their grievances over delays and issues at airports amid the IT disruption. Ryanair said it was experiencing a “network disruption due to a worldwide IT outage”, with customers advised to arrive at airports at least three hours before their scheduled flights, as reported by the MEN.

A Ryanair spokesman said: “We are currently experiencing a network outage due to a global IT outage that is beyond our control. We advise all passengers to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before their scheduled departure time.

“If you are traveling today and have not already checked in for your flight, you can do so at the airport. We apologize for any inconvenience caused as a result of this global IT outage.”

In a separate update, Manchester Airport bosses said: “Global IT issues are affecting some of our airlines this morning. That means some processes like check-in and boarding are done manually and take longer than usual for those airlines.

“Most flights operating from the airport are not affected, but the terminals are slightly busier than usual due to the situation. As always, passengers are advised to check the status of their flights with their airlines before departing for the airport and should follow airline advice on the best time to arrive at the airport.

“We also recommend that you check updated travel advice as some train services have also been affected by the problems. Some of our merchants were also affected, meaning they were unable to process card payments. Thank you to all our passengers for your patience. and understanding.”
