Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Adrien Rabiot latest, Alexander-Arnold update, Nico Williams ‘bid’

The wait continues for positive transfer news for Liverpool fans. Things are happening behind the scenes, but Manchester United, who have signed Leny Yoro from Lille, will not do much to help the patience of the Reds’ fans.

After tracking Yoro this summer, the Reds missed out, with Liverpool appearing to want a move to Real Madrid.

It appears then that another transfer target is set to be ruled out. Marc Guehi is another who looks set to be ruled out now, especially given the clause in his contract that could complicate any potential move.

Dani Olmo could provide a ray of light, although Liverpool will need to move quickly. The Spanish hero’s release clause from RB Leipzig is set to expire on Saturday and a fourth club appear to have entered the race for his signature.

Richard Hughes has already spoken of being “opportunistic” in the transfer market, but as the clock ticks down to the new season, Arne Slot’s squad are yet to be bolstered with new additions.

Liverpool have sent a clear message to Anthony Gordon

Newcastle CEO Darren Eales has ruled out a move for Anthony Gordon this summer after talks over a move to Liverpool broke down earlier this summer. Speaking to ChronicleLive, Eales said:

In the end we had to make the right offers for the club (PSR wise) which got us compliant. So, from that perspective, we did what we had to do. But we kept what I would say are our core players, the kind of players like (Alexander) Isak, Gordon, Bruno (Guimaraes), Joelinton – those players who are core.

Asked if Newcastle would start the new season with Gordon, Isak and Guimaraes still at the club, Eales simply replied: “Yes!”

Liverpool ‘waiting’ for Van Dijk

Liverpool are waiting for Virgil van Dijk to return from holiday before making any calls on his future, according to Fabrizio Romano (via Caught Offside).

Despite speculation over the Dutchman’s future, Romano claims that Liverpool have not received any offers and the situation is quiet.

Van Dijk is currently on break before linking up with the Reds after leading the Netherlands to the semi-finals of Euro 2024.

The last Dani Olmo

Dani Olmo is unlikely to be at RB Leipzig for the start of the new season, according to Sky Germany.

The Spain international’s $66m (£50m/€60m) release clause expires tomorrow, with clubs facing a race against time to secure his signature.

Liverpool have been linked with his services, although rumors of a move to Anfield have dried up recently. Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City are said to be in the running.

Alexis Mac Allister links have been reduced

Alexis Mac Allister’s father played down links to Real Madrid, insisting the midfielder is happy at Liverpool.

Speaking to Egyptian station MSR, Mac Allister Snr said:

Alexis is doing very well at Liverpool and that is the important thing to say at the moment. There are no negotiations from Real Madrid with Alexis and the player will continue with Liverpool next season.

If future bids come in to sign Alexis, we will discuss them with Liverpool management first.

Trent Alexander-Arnold Update

Real Madrid are not actively working on a move for Trent Alexander-Arnold as the Liverpool vice-captain prepares to hold talks with Arne Slot, according to Ben Jacobs (via GIVEMESPORT).

Slot has already outlined his plan to speak to Alexander-Arnold about his position in the squad and may address his future while he’s at it.

The right-back is, of course, in the final year of his contract at Anfield. Jacobs claims Liverpool are calm about his situation, with Slot keen to keep Alexander-Arnold as part of the player’s management team.

Juventus confirm the departure of Adrien Rabiot

Juventus have confirmed that Adrien Rabiot will leave the club this summer.

The midfielder’s contract expired earlier this month, with Juve’s attempts to get him to sign a new contract ahead of Euro 2024 failing. A statement from the Turin club said yesterday:

Juventus and Adrien Rabiot part ways. The French midfielder’s black and white adventure comes to an end as he bids farewell to our club after five seasons.

Rabiot has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer as he has been in every transfer window, with the 29-year-old now officially a free agent.

Slot set for today’s first game

Arne Slot is set to take charge of Liverpool in a game for the first time today.

The Reds will face Preston North End in a behind closed doors game at the AXA Training Center later, according to David Lynch.

Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, Andy Robertson, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and Jarell Quansah could be among the players who have returned to training.

Riccardo Calafiori hill stalls

Arsenal’s move for Riccardo Calafiori is blocked, according to Three Added Minutes. The issue lies in how much FC Basel, his former club (around 50 percent) would have owed.

Calafiori could have moved to the Emirates for around $55m (£42m/€50m) a week ago, but the saga continues. Bologna are trying to raise more money to ensure they can find a suitable replacement.

Liverpool, of course, were linked with a move for him early on during Euro 2024. But perhaps the complications of getting a deal done are part of the reason the Reds have shied away.

Manuel Ugarte agrees to the terms

Liverpool could be about to miss out on another potential Manchester United target.

Fabrizio Romano claims the Old Trafford club have agreed personal terms with Manuel Ugarte, with the defensive midfielder “keen” on the move.

Ugarte’s agent name-checked Liverpool last summer before his move to PSG, and the Reds have been linked again this year.

Johan Bakayoko speaks

Johan Bakayoko has spoken about his future, admitting he would only leave PSV Eindhoven for a “top club”.

The Belgium international has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer and in an interview with Eindhovens Dagblad, the winger opened the door to a possible move:

If I were to leave Eindhoven, it would only be to a club that plays for prizes like PSV. I want to become a champion. And win the Champions League. I have the qualities for it.

‘Offer ready’ for Liverpool ‘target’ Nico Williams

Chelsea are ready to launch a bid for Spain striker Nico Williams, according to The Athletic. Liverpool, of course, were among the clubs linked with a move for the Spain international, who scored in the Euro 2024 final against England.

It is Chelsea who could be prepared to make the first move for the 21-year-old, although the Blues know Barcelona are likely to fight for the Athletic Bilbao star. The Reds aren’t believed to be that keen on him given his wage demands, but Spanish outlet MARCA remain adamant Liverpool could trigger his release clause.

ICYMI: Man Utd have signed Leny Yoro

Liverpool and Real Madrid were among those keen on Leny Yoro, but Manchester United won the race.

With Real Madrid unwilling to meet the asking price and Liverpool walking away from a deal, Yoro made the switch to the Premier League instead. They move for a fee $68m (£52m/€62m).

“To sign for a club of Manchester United’s stature and ambition so early in my career is an incredible honour,” Yoro said, speaking to Manchester United’s official website.

“From my first conversations with the club, they have set out a clear plan on how I can develop in Manchester as part of this exciting project and have shown a lot of care for me and my family.

“I know the history of the young players at Manchester United and I feel it can be the perfect place to reach my potential and achieve my ambitions with my new team-mates. I can’t wait to get started.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold most recently

Liverpool have allowed their number 66, Trent Alexander-Arnold, to enter the final year of his contract and that means rumors about his future are inevitable.

Real Madrid are waiting to see what happens between England and Liverpool regarding his contract situation. The Spanish giants could pounce if they find an opportunity, according to Fabrizio Romano.
