The Conjuring 4 confirms 2025 release date

The Conjuring 4 finally has a confirmed release date, although we still have a long way to go for the Warrens’ final case.

On July 9, 2024, Warner Bros. announced that the final Conjuring film, currently untitled, would be released in September 2025.

We don’t know what The Conjuring 4 will be about yet, but we do know that it will mark the final outing for Ed and Lorraine Warren. It may not be the end of the entire universe, which has expanded to include several spin-offs.

We do know, however, that Michael Chaves – who directed The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It and The Nun II – is directing the new film, while Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick – who wrote the second and third films – is writing the fourth .

Now that we have a release date, here’s everything you need to know about The Conjuring 4.

The Conjuring 4 release date: When can we expect The Conjuring 4?

The Conjuring 4 will be released in theaters on September 5, 2025excluding any production delays.

According to The Hollywood Reporter in February 2024, filming was supposed to begin this summer in Atlanta, but we have no word on when that is still the plan.

Now that it has a release date, we’d assume filming will begin soon to get to that September release date. However, Warner Bros has yet to confirm when production will begin.

The Conjuring 4 Cast: Who’s Returning for The Conjuring 4?

It hasn’t been officially confirmed, but Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are expected to return as Ed and Lorraine Warren – it’s not a Conjuring movie without them.

Fortunately, they seem ready for more outings, so we won’t have to convince them to come back.

“Oh my God, I wish we could (continue),” Farmiga said, with Wilson adding, “We constantly want to push these characters. I wish – for no other reason than to continue playing with Vera. “

If you can’t wait for The Conjuring 4 to see the Warrens again, they appear in The Nun 2 credits scene in a short teaser for the next film.

Other returns are harder to predict, especially since the third film didn’t feature many crossovers from the wider Conjuring universe.

Sterling Jerins reprized his role as Judy Warren, while there were also return appearances for Steve Coulter as Father Gordon and Shannon Kook as Drew Thomas. They could all be back in the fourth movie, but that’s probably about it for the returns.

As with the other Conjuring films, a fourth outing would cover an entirely new case, meaning a largely new cast outside of the main characters.

The Conjuring 4 Plot: What Cases Could The Conjuring 4 Cover?

The third film ends in November 1981 after Arne Johnson’s trial, and we can assume that The Conjuring 4 will take place after that in the timeline.

That leaves some interesting cases from the Warren family’s real-life experiences that could be used as the basis for a new movie that could see them back in a haunted house.

In 1986, the Warrens investigated a double helping of haunted houses with the Snedeker House and Smurl Haunting. The former already loosely inspired The Haunting in Connecticut, and both revolved around supposedly demon-infested houses.

After the third movie broke away from the haunted house formula, it might be a disappointing step back for the series to go back to one.

If they want to avoid that trope, there’s one yet-to-be-covered case from the Warren files that holds a lot of promise: the legend of the White Lady at Union Cemetery in Easton, Connecticut.

Although the Warrens did not directly investigate the phenomenon, they claimed to have a video of the White Lady in action and wrote a book about it.

The spirit is said to appear in a delicate white nightgown or wedding dress and move through the cemetery, with reports of drivers seeing her just outside the cemetery, causing them to swerve.

“I can tell you that I know for a fact that this place is haunted, it’s one of the most haunted places around,” remarked Lorraine Warren — and if that’s not the space for a Conjuring movie, we don’t know what is.

The Conjuring 4 Trailer: Any footage of The Conjuring 4 yet?

The Conjuring 4 hasn’t started filming yet, so we’ll be waiting a while for filming. Maybe we’ll get a scary surprise, Halloween filming starts this summer.
