Passenger in ‘distinctive jacket’ wanted after sexual assault on Birmingham buses

Two women were sexually assaulted on Birmingham buses in two separate incidents, prompting police to issue a CCTV appeal to locate a man in a “distinctive jacket”. The first assault took place on the X2 bus between Moor Street in Birmingham city center and Solihull to Whitefields Road at 2pm on Tuesday 30 April.

The man officers would like to speak to was wearing a distinctive blue jacket with white stripes on the front and back and a red and white logo on the right sleeve. He has an Asian appearance with short black hair and a beard. He went down in the Small Heath area of ​​the town, police confirmed.



The second incident took place on the X1 bus between Biormingham and Coventry in similar circumstances more recently, again on a Tuesday, this time July 2 at around 4pm. The same man in the picture is wearing what appears to be the same blue jacket with white stripes on the front and back and a red and white logo on the right sleeve.

In one image the man wears dark trousers and in another light blue jeans. Both women who were sexually assaulted were over 20 years old.

West Midlands Police officers want to speak to this man in connection with two sexual assaults on buses in Birmingham city center in just over two months

Launching the appeal, a West Midlands Police spokesman said: “Do you recognize this man? We want to speak to him after two women in their 20s were sexually assaulted while traveling on separate buses in Birmingham city centre.

“On the first occasion at around 2pm on Tuesday 30 April, the man sat next to the victim on the X2 bus, with the second incident taking place on the X1 bus in similar circumstances at around 4pm on Tuesday 2 July.

“It looked like a distinctive blue jacket with white stripes on the front and back and a red and white logo on the right sleeve. If you can help, contact 101 and quote 20/443691/24, or use Live Chat at: westmidlands.police.uk.”
