Jadon Sancho sends a clear message as Manchester United transfer exit confirmed

Jadon Sancho has sent a farewell message to former Manchester United team-mate Mason Greenwood. The Carrington Academy graduate completed his move to Marseille earlier this week after spending last season on loan at Grenada and is Erik ten Hag’s biggest sale so far this summer.

Greenwood will bank United £26.6m after agreeing to join Roberto De Zerbi’s side. However, the club are expected to seek more exits across the board to fund an ambitious summer window under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Ineos and the new sporting structure.

Victor Lindelof is one who could leave, while Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford (among others) have also been linked with an exit. Sancho, who spent the second half of last season at Borussia Dortmund, was expected to be among those on his way out.

However, after returning to Manchester for pre-season training, the Englishman was offered a way back into the side. Speaking in his second week of training ahead of the tour in America, Ten Hag opened up about his new position.

“Like I said, we’re drawing the line,” the chief said. “Manchester United needs good players and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line and we are moving on.”

The pair fell out at the start of last season after the Ten Hag publicly criticized Sancho’s efforts in training, to which the former Manchester City ace responded online. The relationship appeared to have broken down, but Sancho now has a pathway, unlike Greenwood, who the club explained “would be best for him” to move from Old Trafford.
