The Guinness partnership helps fund local charity Lambeth

The Guinness Partnership, one of England’s largest housing associations, has announced that it is supporting the charity, The Baytree Center, to fund its work in providing after-school activities for young people, as well as training and support for mother and child wellbeing .

The Baytree Centre, located in Brixton, Lambeth, works to empower women and girls through skills development programmes, social mobility, financial management, health and wellbeing, education, employment, family stability, integration pathways, 1-1 mentoring, support academic and social action activities.

Guinness is providing funds to the charity towards their costs in running after-school youth activities, where girls and young adults aged 6-20 can take part in a range of activities including: creative writing, gymnastics, cookery, arts and trades, theater. , football, sewing, movement and dancing and horse riding.

Additional funding will also go towards developing a parenting course for mothers to support their children at school.

Brian Hamlin, Senior Community Partnership Manager at Guinness Partnership said: “We are extremely pleased to help fund the Baytree Center to support their work helping women and children gain the skills they need to thrive. This service provides really valuable and easily accessible support to those who need it.”

Carmen González, Director of Development at Baytree Community Center said: “The generous donation from The Guinness Partnership makes a huge difference in helping us engage the parents of the girls who come to our after school activities.

“The after school clubs have also been boosted with the Guinness Partnership donation which has helped us reach 50% more girls.”
