Distraught mother heads to Mallorca to search for her son, who has been missing for over a week | My news from London

The distraught mother of a missing Mallorca man is to fly to the Spanish island to launch a door-to-door search for her son. Benjamin Ross, 26, from Golborne, Wigan, has been without contact with his family since July 10.

In June, she had embarked on a dream holiday to the Spanish island to visit a partner, before deciding to extend her stay and find temporary accommodation. Initially staying in Majorca’s capital, Palma, Benjamin stopped communicating with his mother Felix and was not heard from for over a week.

Felix was informed by her son that he intended to visit his friends as a break from the pressures of securing the next stages of his law practice. Assuming he meant a local friend, Felix said okay and urged him to stay connected. Weeks later, she discovered that Ben, who has a passion for travel, had all his belongings stolen – including his wallet, phone and keys – while he was swimming at the beach.

He later cut off contact with Felix, which she says left her worried about his mental well-being, the Manchester Evening News reports. Felix has been unable to contact Ben since July 10 and described the past week as “torture”, admitting he was “out of his mind with worry”.

The devastated mum reported Ben missing to Greater Manchester Police on July 13. The force is now helping the family submit a report to Interpol, which will allow the Foreign Office to begin investigations alongside Spanish police.

Felix plans to fly to Mallorca tomorrow, July 20, to initiate “ground searches” and go “door to door” of where he was staying and where he might have been. Because of Ben’s passion for literature and art, Felix said he would “check out anywhere of historical value on the island as well.”
