Gary Neville wildly celebrates Liverpool’s goal in the Sky Sports studio

Gary Neville could not contain his excitement after Liverpool were handed a dramatic late equalizer against Aston Villa. The Manchester United legend has made no secret of his feelings towards his old club’s biggest rivals and started running around the Sky Sports studio in celebration when Jhon Duran scored an 88th-minute equaliser.

Liverpool looked set to win Jürgen Klopp’s final away game in the Premier League after taking a 3-1 lead. However, substitute Duran scored twice late on to ensure Aston Villa snatched a point to take a huge step towards Champions League qualification.

Jamie Carragher was stopped in his tracks when Duran accidentally flicked a ball over Alisson and into the Liverpool net. Neville, however, sprinted around the studio with his arms up, screaming with excitement in footage shown on Sky Sports Monday Night Football after the game.

While he celebrated late getting Liverpool, he was positive about Klopp and the excitement he has brought to the Premier League, albeit with an asterisk that he is a fan of the manager rather than his club.

Neville said: “Liverpool fans will miss him (Klopp) in many ways, but what they will miss is the electricity of Liverpool games. You know I’m not a Liverpool fan, but when you watch a Jurgen Klopp Liverpool team, you’re usually watching a good football match.

“It’s easy to see teams that close out games, be a lot more solid, go five at the back. Honestly, I played for a manager who was exactly like him — they always took risks, they always played with courage, they always played on the front foot and they never stopped during the game. And I have to say it’s pretty unique these days to have a manager like that. In fact, I was begging him to keep playing until the end.”
