Coventry restaurant serving ‘flavorful curries’ named ‘best curry house in town’

If you want to enjoy a delicious Indian curry and a pint this weekend, Sonaragon on Daventry Road in Cheylesmore is the place to be. Sonarogan is an Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant that offers customers an “unforgettable” and “refined” experience.

The restaurant specializes in preparing traditional Asian dishes from the subcontinent with a “sophisticated approach” as well as maintaining authenticity so that diners can experience something unique. Bosses say their vision goes beyond making “fresh quality”, “hygienic” and “delicious” food.

Many customers have praised Sonarogan for offering “fresh and tasty food” that is “well presented”. One hailed it as one of the “best curry houses in Coventry”. The restaurant also has a healthy eating approach, which means no artificial colourings, preservatives or food additives are used in the dishes and most of the spices are freshly ground in the kitchen.

It also offers a buffet service for birthdays and private and corporate events with a minimum of 20 people. 24 hours notice is required and outside catering is also available for events.

Sonarogan offers a wide range of dishes ranging from tandoori specials, sizzling platters, biryani dishes, balti dishes and chef specials like Chicken Naga Tawa, Achaari Gosht, Tandoori Murghi Masala Karahi, Fish Karahi and many more.

• tandoori platter (chicken tikka, lamb tikka, sheek kebab, tandoori chicken wings) – £12.95 for 2, £22.95 for 4.

• Vegetable platter (onion bhaji, gobi pakora, vegetable samosa, paneer shashlik) – £12.75 for 2, £20.95 for 4.

• Chilli Chicken Balti – £8.95

• King Prawns Balti – £14.95

• Koorsi lamb – Leg of lamb spiced and marinated in the chef’s special Tandoori Masala sauce for 12 hours. Roasted in the clay oven and cooked in spiced minced lamb. Served with special fried rice, plain nan, vegetable curry and Kurzilamb sauce – £52.50 for 2, £95.50 for 4.

• Dhakeswari – Diced fried chicken cooked with fresh coriander, almonds and fenugreek leaves – £9.95.

• Tandoori Mix Grill – (chicken tikka, sheek kebab, lamb tikka, tandoori chicken) – £13.95.

Sonarogan has a 4.5 star rating on Tripadvisor with a Traveler’s Choice badge for 2023. Food, service, value and atmosphere are all rated 4.5 out of 5. The restaurant also has a 4.4 star rating on Google reviews.
