Manchester United are exploring a deal to sign youth striker Chido Obi-Martin from Arsenal

Manchester United are exploring a deal to sign striker Chido Obi-Martin after his Arsenal school term expires.

The 16-year-old visited United’s Carrington training facilities earlier this week, with the club in initial talks over a move.

Arsenal have made what they feel is a fair offer for Obi-Martin, whose next move will be a scholarship before moving to a professional contract when he turns 17.

Ultimately, the striker decided to move on, and United are among a host of teams interested, although that does not include Manchester City.

Obi-Martin joined Arsenal from Danish side KB in 2022 and has impressed at age group level.

A junior international for England and Denmark, he scored 10 goals in a 14-3 win for Arsenal’s under-16s against Liverpool in November.

More recently, Obi-Martin found the net four times against Crystal Palace and Fulham, five against West Ham United and seven in a meeting with Norwich City for the under-18s.

In total, he scored 29 goals in 17 under-18 league games.

Obi-Martin starred in Denmark’s 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualification campaign, scoring twice in three group stage matches.
