Manchester United ‘want to sign 16-year-old Chido Obi-Martin’

  • Chido Obi-Martin could be on his way to United once he turns 17 in November
  • The talented teenager, who plays for Arsenal, recently turned down a new contract

Arsenal’s Chido Obi-Martin is firmly on Manchester United’s radar after the teenage wonder turned down a new contract with the Gunners.

Obi-Martin, who is Danish but previously lived and played in England, is best known for scoring a whopping 10 goals against Liverpool’s youth team last year.

The Athletic reported that Obi-Martin is ready to leave Arsenal despite being offered a new contract, which the Premier League runners-up deemed “fair”.

The 16-year-old will be able to leave the Gunners on his 17th birthday on November 29 and it seems the Red Devils are ready to jump at the opportunity to sign the talented youngster straight away.

Man United are said to be ‘exploring’ a deal for the child prodigy, which would place the 6ft 2in Danish centre-forward at the sharp end of United’s youth set-up – and potentially, in the mind of first-team coach Erik ten Hag, must impress.

The striker’s stunning display in the Norwich clash included a 17-minute hat-trick, which came just two weeks after he scored five in a win against them. West Ham.

Obi-Martin saw fellow Arsenal player Ethan Nwaneri become the youngest ever Premier League player when he made his debut last season in a 3-0 win over Brentford at the age of 15 years, five months and 28 years days.
