The BBC pundit says Liverpool’s ‘big’ player deserves more chances after his performance against Aston Villa

According to BBC pundit Clinton Morrison, Liverpool’s “great” midfielder deserves more chances next season after what he did against Aston Villa.

It wasn’t Liverpool’s greatest performance this season, let alone across the board in Jurgen Klopp’s nine games at the club.

However, the match against Aston Villa was a thrilling encounter on Monday night. A game that certainly had all Liverpool fans on the edge of their seats.

It was end-to-end action with both Liverpool and Aston Villa going all out. There were plenty of goals to celebrate and plenty of drama and VAR reviews too.

Most importantly, it was a truly impressive performance from one of Liverpool’s best players since the start of the year.

Clinton Morrison on what Harvey Elliott is worth next season

Right in front of Gareth Southgate, who was in attendance at Villa Park on Monday night, Harvey Elliott certainly showed what he was capable of.

He was involved in Liverpool’s first goal, forcing an own goal from Emiliano Martinez with his cross in the first two minutes of the game.

He also provided the decisive assist to Jarell Quansah from a well-taken free-kick for Liverpool’s third goal of the game.

Speaking on BBC 5 Live, Clinton Morrison was very impressed with Elliott’s performance and revealed that he believes the midfielder deserves more opportunities at the club next season.

“He’s better in that middle role,” Morrison said.

“He picks passes, has great delivery on set pieces and has a bright, young future. He will want more opportunities. The new manager should give him more opportunities, I like him.”

Morrison is right, Elliott works very well in that middle role. He has also been brilliant since the start of the year and certainly deserves more time on the pitch.

It is a testament to his talent that since February 10, no Liverpool player has more goal contributions than Elliott (12) for the Reds in all competitions.
