Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Baris Alper Yilmaz ‘bid’, claims Matt O’Reilly, latest Alexander-Arnold

The wait continues for some positive transfer news for Liverpool fans, but there was at least one friendly against Preston North End to get stuck into on Friday.

Things are happening behind the scenes in terms of signings, but Manchester United signing Leny Yoro from Lille won’t do much to ease the patience of Reds fans. After tracking Yoro this summer, the Reds missed out, with Liverpool appearing to want a move to Real Madrid.

A few new names have also appeared on the transfer vine. Celtic midfielder Matt O’Reilly is said to be a player the Reds have had a look at, while Liverpool are also keen on Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz. Meanwhile, Dani Olmo has been linked with a move to Anfield all summer, with the Spanish hero’s release clause from RB Leipzig set to expire today.

Richard Hughes has already spoken of being “opportunistic” in the transfer market, but as the clock ticks down to the new season, Arne Slot’s squad are yet to be bolstered with new additions.

Liverpool ‘submitted a $33m transfer offer’

I’d take this with a grain of salt, to say the least, but Turkish website Ajanspor reported yesterday that Liverpool have offered Galatasaray a transfer fee of $33m (£25m/€30m ) to sign the 24-year-old striker. Baris Alper Yilmaz.

Linked with a variety of Premier League sides, Yilmaz is said to be in London at the moment. He could simply be on vacation, of course, doing a bit of sightseeing in his spare time, but speculation surrounding him is growing.

Matt O’Reilly ‘watched’ by Liverpool

Italian transfer reporter Rudy Galetti has claimed that Liverpool are among a number of clubs chasing 23-year-old Celtic midfielder Matt O’Reilly. Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan have been credited with an interest in him in the past.

Atalanta once saw a bid worth around $19m (£15m/€18m) rejected. Celtic would last a lot longer than that after a season where they really excelled.

Born in London but a Danish international at senior level, O’Reilly scored 19 goals and assisted a further 18 last season. He was previously at Fulham’s academy before joining MK Dons and then Celtic.
