Live updates from Crown Island as police line up at busy Nottingham junction

A police cordon is in place at one of Nottingham’s busiest junctions this morning. A Nottinghamshire Police car guards the cordon on Crown Island, close to the junction with Middleton Avenue.

A Nottinghamshire Live reader got in touch to say it had “been there all night” until this morning (Saturday, July 20). It is one of the city’s most famous intersections, where two traffic islands create a link between Middleton and Western Boulevards.

An object that appears to be a bicycle can be seen in the cordon, which is close to the Crown Hotel pub. A Nottinghamshire Live reporter is at the scene and has approached Nottinghamshire Police for comment.
