Peabody man charged in Lynn shooting that killed 2, injured 5

The Essex County District Attorney’s Office said six men have been charged in the September 2023 shooting in Lynn.



PEABODY, MA — Six suspects, including a Peabody man, were charged with murder this week in connection with a shooting in Lynn that killed two people and wounded five others, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.

Justin Alba, 25, of Peabody, was among those charged in the September 2023 shooting deaths of Jandriel Heredia, 21, of Revere, and Abraham Diaz, 25, of Lynn.

Two of the suspects were 16 years old or younger.

In addition to Alba, Lynn residents Darwin Batista, 20, Yefferson Vallecillo Cambar, 22, Carlos Ramirez Corniel, 16, Leonardo Espinoza, 15, and Abel Severino Reyes, 21, were charged this week .

Alba, Batista, Vallecillo Cambar and Severino Reyes were also charged with one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

“The double homicide that happened last year was incredibly tragic,” said Lynn Mayor Jared Nicholson. “While nothing will replace the loss of Abraham Diaz and Jandriel Heredia or change how many lives were forever affected by such heinous acts of violence, these charges are a significant step for the families as well as our entire community, which continues to deserves to ask for peace.

“I appreciate the tireless efforts of all law enforcement agencies that made this moment possible and the support those efforts received from our community.”

Court dates have not yet been set.
