Truck closes main road near Beaumont Shopping Center

Police have closed a main road in west Leicester after a lorry rolled onto its side on a roundabout. The incident happened at around 6.30am today at the junction of Anstey Lane and Bennion Road in Beaumont Leys, Leicester.


The westbound side of the A5630 Anstey Lane – from Leicester and Beaumont Shopping Center to the A46 and Anstey – was closed to traffic for almost three hours while the lorry was put back on its wheels and removed from the roundabout. A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said the lorry driver was fine and they had left the incident to Leicestershire Police.



Police posted on X at 7am: “Anstey Lane near Gorse Hill Ambulance Station road closed. Please find alternative routes”.

The road is open

Leicestershire Police said in their latest post on X: “**TRAFFIC UPDATE** | 09:10 | Anstey Lane near Gorse Hill Ambulance Station, the road is now open.

The road remains closed

Anstey Lane is still closed westbound heading towards the A46. Traffic coming from Bennion Road can still turn left onto the outer ring road using the incident roundabout.

Truck back on all four wheels

Police have the roundabout closed but the truck is back on its wheels thanks to cranes from Crouch Recovery. Hopefully the road will reopen soon.
