Sheffield United Women sign goalkeeper Sian Rogers

Sheffield United have signed experienced Barclays Women’s Championship goalkeeper Sian Rogers from Charlton Athletic.

She helped the Addicks to second place last season, her second campaign with the south London side.

After coming through the ranks at Wolves and Birmingham City, Rogers joined Aston Villa where he made his first team debut as a teenager in the 2017-18 season.

A former England youth goalkeeper, Rogers won the Championship’s Golden Glove award as Villa won promotion in the 2019-20 campaign, playing several WSL games before joining Charlton on loan in 2022, eventually making permanent move last summer.

Rogers said of the move: “I am very excited. It’s a team I know a lot about and something I’ve really wanted to be a part of and I’m really excited to get going now.

“Every game against the team was a tough game and you always knew it was going to be, it’s a team that works hard for each other. It’s a new start for me, I’m proud of what I’ve done, but I know I can do more and I want to bring those experiences here.”

The six-goal Swifts will feature in the NIWFA Championship Cup final
