Featherstone machete attack leaves two men with serious stab wounds

Two men were attacked with a machete in an attack on a Featherstone road.

Officers were called in the early hours of Saturday by staff at Pontefract General Infirmary who reported that two men were in hospital after suffering serious injuries from the large knife. They remain hospitalized for serious injuries. One of the men is said to have suffered a critical head injury.




A scene was set up at the petrol station in Wakefield Road, Featherstone, as police continue to investigate. West Yorkshire Police said officers want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have witnessed the attack taking place or who may have dashcam footage that could help.

The road between Common Side Lane and Station Lane has been closed while officers investigate, with a diversion onto Green Lane. Traffic is said to be doing well.

A spokesman for the force said: “At 1.43am this morning (July 20), officers were called by staff at Pontefract General Infirmary to reports that two men had attended with serious injuries from what is believed to be it was a machete.

“A scene was established at the petrol station on Wakefield Road, Featherstone. Two adult men remain in hospital with serious injuries, one of them with a critical head injury. Inquiries are ongoing by Wakefield CID.

“Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed an attack or who may have dashcam footage which could assist the investigation.”
