West Yorkshire Police launched appeal after machete attack in Featherstone

Two men remain in hospital, one of whom is seriously injured

West Yorkshire Police have launched an investigation following a machete attack in Featherstone which left a man seriously injured.

Officers first received reports of an incident when staff at Pontefract General Infirmary called police after two men arrived with serious injuries.

Doctors at the hospital determined the two men were involved in an incident which took place at a petrol station on Wakefield Road.

Police arrived at the hospital at 1.43am on Saturday morning (July 20) to find two men with serious injuries.

Victims remain in hospital receiving treatment for injuries; one man remains in critical condition.

An investigation into the attack has been opened by West Yorkshire Police and inquiries are ongoing, being carried out by Wakefield Criminal Investigation Department.

Officers are now appealing for information and witnesses to come forward as soon as possible to help with their enquiries.

In particular, police want to speak to those who were at the Wakefield Road petrol station at the time of the incident and may have dashcam footage to get in touch.
