25 things you can do in Merseyside that you couldn’t do 10 years ago

In a busy city like Liverpool, the skyline and what the Merseyside region has to offer changes forever. There are always new restaurants, shops or buildings popping up that soon become a staple for people to visit and enjoy and make us think about what we ever did before we existed.

From the country’s biggest Lush store opening right in the city center to a new train station in Kirkby, we’ve seen how Merseyside has changed and what we have now that we didn’t have 10 years ago. Below we’ve identified 25 things you can do in our region now that you couldn’t before.

1. Visit the Magical Beatles Museum

In 2018, Liverpool won the Magical Beatles Museum. The Mathew Street Museum is run by Roag Best, brother of ‘the fifth Beatle’ Pete, and uses his own personal collection of Beatles memorabilia. The five-story building is home to rare items, including some that very few people know about, with three of the floors dedicated to a different period in The Beatles’ history.

2. The River of Light

The River of Light Festival may seem like a long-standing tradition in Liverpool these days, but the first event only took place in 2016. Every year, tens of thousands of people descend on Liverpool’s waterfront as two fireworks displays they take place simultaneously on the River Mersey. .

The river will light up this year from October 25 to November 5 with 12 light artworks that transform the waterfront into an outdoor gallery and playground.

3. See a movie at Everyman Cinema

The Metquarter may have opened in 2006, but has undergone a facelift in recent years, including the addition of the Everyman Cinema in 2018. The upscale cinema includes soft seating and a fully stocked bar. Guests can also enjoy in-seat dining while watching movies, and moviegoers can order restaurant-style food in the lounge area.

4. Spend the day at Comic-Con

Comic-Con may have been an annual event in America for years, but it’s fairly new to Liverpool, first coming here in 2018. This year it will return to the Exhibition Center on November 9-10, with guests celebrities including Marvel star Sebastian Stan, Actor Jensen Ackles from Supernatural and The Boys, Freya Allan from The Witcher and Zach Galligan and Gizmo from Gremlins.
