Rangers 0-0 Man Utd LIVE SCORE: Wheatley denied opener as Sancho and new signing Yoro START

Edinburgh ready to go

Murrayfield filled up, the tracksuits came off the two sets of players, flares lit up in the far end and it all meant one thing.

We are finally ready for the start in the capital of Scotland.

Red Devils return for Ruud

With 15 minutes left to prepare, the Manchester United players stayed on the pitch to undergo light warm-ups.

And there is a familiar face among United’s coaching staff putting them to work.

Ruud van Nistelrooy returned to the club earlier this summer as assistant manager, 18 years after leaving Old Trafford for Real Madrid.

A prolific Premier League striker in the early 2000s, the Dutchman scored 150 goals for United in 219 appearances.

Kick-off was delayed by 15 minutes

Today’s game at Murrayfield will now kick off a quarter of an hour later than originally scheduled at 4.15pm.

The decision was made due to the long queues still outside the stadium.

Fixture Remembers ‘Battle of Britain’

When a giant of England faces a giant in Scotland, there is unlikely to be anything “friendly” about the meeting.

And in the build-up to today’s clash, many fans have been recalling the last competitive meetings between the clubs.

In the 2010-11 season, Manchester United and Rangers met in two bloody games in the Champions League group stage – although goals were not on the menu.

The sides played out a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford before a late Wayne Rooney penalty set up the reverse fixture at Ibrox as Sir Alex Ferguson slotted one past his old friend Walter Smith.

Ten Hag happy with Sancho’s return

Erik ten Hag has revealed he is happy to have Jadon Sancho back at his disposal as he puts his players through the paces of pre-season.

The player’s Manchester United career looked over a year ago, but he appears to have mended his relationship with the Old Trafford boss ahead of the new campaign.

The Ten Hag would also have liked to use this afternoon’s game in Edinburgh to give Marcus Rashford a run, but the striker is still struggling for fitness.

It is an important game for match fitness to be built. Unfortunately (Marcus Rashford) can’t play, it would have been nice, but that’s how it is. It’s good to have Jadon (Sancho) back and Andre Onana’s first minutes; Radek Vitek did very well against Rosenborg, but of course Andre needs to practice his game.

Yoro and Sancho start for United

Despite the youthful appearance of his 26-man squad, Erik ten Hag names as experienced a squad as possible to face his Rangers.

Most notably a first Manchester United appearance for 18-year-old Leny Yoro following his £52million move from Lille two days ago.

The exiled Jadon Sancho also starts, returning to the club after a season on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

Also included are Andre Onana – back in goal despite Radek Vitek’s heroics against Rosenborg – as well as Jonny Evans, Mason Mount and captain Casemiro.

Eighteen-year-old Ethan Wheatley leads the line for the Red Devils.

Man Utd (4-2-3-1): Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Yoro, Evans, Murray; Casemiro, Collyer; Amad, the Mountain, Sancho; Wheatley.

Subs: Mee, Vitek, Aljofree, Amass, Bennett, Fish, Jackson, Ogunneye, Oyedele, J. Fletcher, Hannibal, Mather, Scanlon, Ennis, Hugill
