Tim Cahill’s son Shae is making a career move after leaving Brisbane Roar

Premier League club Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of Shae Cahill, son of former Everton and Socceroos legend Tim Cahill.

The 19-year-old midfielder most recently played for Brisbane Roar in the Men’s A-League and will initially join Forest’s B team.

“I am so happy and excited to start this next chapter with Nottingham Forest. I want to thank everyone at the club and my family for supporting me,” he told the English Premier League club’s website.

“My goals are to train hard and dedicate myself to being the best I can be, making both my family and the football club proud.”

Head of Academy Chris McGuane added: “We are delighted to welcome Shae to Nottingham Forest and are excited to see how he fits into the B team pool.

“Shae has had first team experience in Australia and joins the club keen to improve as a player.”

Liverpool-born Cahill joined Everton at the age of 11, part of the club’s under-18 squad, before being released last year and heading to Australia to sign for Brisbane Roar.

He made eight appearances, scoring one goal, but left Brisbane by mutual consent last month.
