Leeds United are looking to prize Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United this month, but if they lose Junior Firpo, a left-back is needed and Harrison Burrows makes a lot of sense.

Full-backs have consistently been a vital part of Daniel Farke’s tactical structure, whether it was at Elland Road or his time at Norwich City.

This summer is an important one in terms of establishing a consistent outlet across both channels for Leeds, and Farke is looking to the Championship for inspiration.

Jayden Bogle on Leeds United radar for transfer deal

Last weekend, via Mike McGrath, it emerged that Leeds were ready to approach Sheffield United for their right-back Jayden Bogle.

The 23-year-old has become Leeds’ main target to improve at right-back, with the Whites now having two initial bids rejected earlier in the week.

Bogle is in the final year of his contract and the Blades are struggling through the early stages of the transfer window due to a pending takeover scuppering their grander plans under Chris Wilder.

Will Leeds be promoted this season?

Leeds may need a plan to replace Junior Firpo, Harrison Burrows makes sense

At the other end of Leeds’ back line, Junior Firpo has become the subject of worrying interest from former club Real Betis, who have already signed two players from Elland Road in loan-clause duo Marc Roca and Diego Llorente.

The left-back is unlikely to be someone Farke would happily let go after eight assists in 2024, but the club must plan for that eventuality with a ready-made replacement.

Top of the list should be Peterborough United’s Harrison Burrows after 12 goals and 18 assists in all competitions in 23/24 for the Posh.

The problem is that the 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Bramall Lane, with the Blades agreeing a fee and personal terms with the League One club but still waiting for the takeover to be completed.

While they look forward to this takeover, it does leave the door open for a club to swoop in, and Leeds could be prepared for that eventuality if they sanction Firpo’s exit.

A left-back with quality delivery from that channel is needed to replace Firpo, and Burrows would provide that, plus accuracy from set pieces that has been virtually non-existent for some time.
