Slowly but surely the transfer window is now becoming a hive of activity, as teams across the Premier League and the wider football world acknowledge that the clock is ticking and the time to strike is now.

Manchester United remain among the frontrunners, having already acquired exciting talents in Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee. Now, the Red Devils have once again entered talks as Erik ten Hag looks to get another big deal over the line.

Elsewhere, Arsenal are still resolute in their pursuit of Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori despite the process having recently stalled.

The Gunners are desperate to bolster their defensive ranks, although both clubs remain at the negotiation table regarding costs.

Another team on the hunt for a defender is Liverpool, with Arne Slot yet to make his first established signing as Reds boss.

Liverpool were defeated by Preston North End in a recent behind-closed-doors friendly, and while the alarm bells aren’t ringing just yet – it could soon be the case if recruitments are not made.

Liverpool inquire about £37m defender

Liverpool have inquired into the availability of Bayer Leverkusen star Odilon Kossounnou, reports Caught Offside.

The Reds are in the market for at least one defensive signing this summer, with several options being explored.

Kossounou is among those being considered, and the Ivory Coast international is ‘ready’ to leave the Bundesliga champions for a Premier League club.

A fee in the region of £37 million is likely to test the resolve of Leverkusen, who are aware of Liverpool’s interest.

Brighton reject £8m as Antonio Conte eyes reunion

Brighton have rejected an offer worth £8 million for Billy Gilmour from Napoli, reports talkSPORT.

The Scotland international featured regularly for the Seagulls last season, and his performances caught the attention of the Serie A outfit.

Brighton are willing to part ways with Gilmour if an offer in the region of £12m arrives, although it remains to be seen whether Antonio Conte’s side are willing to cough up such a fee.

United plot Arsenal transfer hijack

Manchester United have reportedly identified Martin Zubimendi as a target this summer.

The Real Sociedad star has been heavily linked with Arsenal over the past few transfer windows, but the Red Devils have now emerged as suitors.

According to The Telegraph, United are keen to acquire the services of the Spain international if their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte is unsuccessful.

There is ‘still interest’ in the 25-year-old despite positive talks being held over Ugarte, although it remains to be seen whether he would be willing to leave Sociedad.

Liverpool preparing £55m bid

Liverpool are reportedly preparing an offer for Real Sociedad forward Takefusa Kubo.

The winger has a growing list of suitors around Europe, and the Japan international has now been linked with joining the Reds this summer.

According to Japanese news outlet Sponichi, Liverpool are set to table an offer worth £55 million for Kubo after identifying the ex-Real Madrid prospect as one of their ‘biggest targets’ this summer.

Mount can leave this summer

Just 12 months on from a huge £60m switch, it could be all over for Mason Mount at Old Trafford.

According to HITCUnited have performed a u-turn on the player, and will now sell if the right offer comes in.

Since the arrival of new sporting director Dan Ashworth, the club have splashed out on teenage defender Leny Yoro and Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee.

The combined £88.5million spend now leaves them needing to make sales to balance the books, and Mount and Brazilian teammate Antony two of the players outlined to be released.

Simons demanded at United

Manchester United hero Louis Saha has told his former employers to snap up Xavi Simons from Paris Saint-Germain after Mason Mount failed to get the Red Devils attack firing following his big-money move from Chelsea last summer.

Simons impressed for the Netherlands at Euro 2024 after spending last season on loan with RB Leipzig.

Simons has struggled to kick-start his career in France after joining PSG from Barcelona as a teenager five years ago.

But the 21-year-old finally looks ready to succeed at the top of the game after bagging 10 goals and 15 assists in 43 appearances for Leipzig during the 2023/24 campaign.

Kante bid rejected

West Ham have launched – and failed – in a shock move for France star N’Golo Kante.

The Premier League icon has emerged as something of a surprise target for West Ham, who are keen to bring him back to Premier League football.

Prising him away from Saudi Arabia is a fruitless task however, and the Hammers are reported to have been immediately rebuffed.

According to The AthleticWest Ham’s verbal offer of £15m has been rejected outright by Al-Ittihad.

Arsenal seal Calafiori

Finally some headway for Arsenal, who have made the biggest breakthrough yet in their pursuit of Riccardo Calafiori.

As per breaking reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have now agreed a deal with Bologna.

The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with Arsenal this summer, but negotiations between the club and Bologna were put on hold due to his international commitments at Euro 2024.

Now, a £33.6 million fee has been agreed for the centre-back, who can also play on the left side of defence. That figure could potentially rise to £37.8m due to add-ons.

Tottenham going big

Spurs have locked in on Jacob Ramsey – a player who Steven Gerrard once said had the capabilities to become one of the Premier League’s best midfielders.

According to TyC Sports, Spurs are now in intense negotiations with Aston Villa and have tabled a package of £19m plus Argentina international Geovani Lo Celso.

Lo Celso has previously worked with Villa boss Unai Emery in Spain, and the deal is understood to be closed.

United in talks to snare ex-Arsenal wonderkid

Manchester United are understood to be exploring a deal to sign Chido Obi-Martin after the young star decided to leave Arsenal.

The Red Devils are hot on the transfer activity, having recently acquired exciting starlets Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee.

Now, according to The Athleticthe 16-year-old Obi-Martin has already visited United’s Carrington training facilities and talks are underway over a contract.

Arsenal fought to keep Obi-Martin, who sprung onto the scene after scoring 10 goals for the club’s under-16s against Liverpool in November.

Eze on the market

Talk is now gathering pace that England’s breakthrough star Eberechi Eze may also be on the move this summer.

The Guardian outlines that Palace have set a minimum £70-£80m asking price for Eze and Marc Guehi combined.

The winger has attracted the interest of Chelsea and Arsenal in recent years, although he poses a risk with his historic injury record.

Liverpool step up on Guehi

It’s a big summer for the Crystal Palace man, who is edging ever closer to a blockbuster transfer.

Liverpool are desperate for central defensive reinforcement, and the England man gave a good account of himself at Euro 2024.

Recent reports via the Guardian state Palace want in the region of £40m for Guehi, who has only just recently turned 24.

Calafiori wants Arsenal

Arsenal remain in pole position to sign Riccardo Calafiori despite talks over a summer move stalling, Bologna chairman Claudio Fenucci has confirmed.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta wants to sign a left-footed defender and the 22-year-old has emerged as a key target, however there remains a gap in valuation between the clubs.

Bologna want at least £42 million, thought latest reports in Italy claim Arsenal have tabled £34 million with the addition of clauses.

Bologna are somewhat limited by Calafiori’s former club Basel being due half of any fee received, and are therefore said to be pushing hard on the price but the inevitable sale does happen.
