Trent Bridge stands survive Shamar Joseph’s six roof tile breaks: WATCH

West Indies have bounced back terribly from a defeat at Lord’s, looking to level the series with a win in Nottingham. In reply to England’s mammoth 416, the tourists posted 457 and took a run of 41 in the first innings. Kavem Hodge smashed his maiden Test 000, while the likes of Alick Athanaze and Joshua de Silva made notable contributions to put the Windies in a comfortable spot.

Meanwhile, fast bowler Shamar Joseph gave England a taste of their medicine as the tail batted in Bazball style and collected 33 runs from 27 balls. He smashed 5 boundaries and a couple of sixes during his stay in the middle, one of which went straight to the roof of one of the boxes at Trent Bridge and broke the tiles.

The incident happened on the third day of the ongoing Test when Joseph attacked England’s young fast bowler Gus Atkinson in the 107th over of the innings. The West Indies No. 11 timed one of Atkinson’s short balls perfectly as it traveled far back to hit the roof of one of the boxes, the boards falling over the crowd seated below.

Joseph stitched a handy 71 in 13 overs that took West Indies to 457 all out, leaving England visibly frustrated. This was West Indies’ highest Test total since 484-7 was declared against Bangladesh at Kingstown in September 2014.
