Match report: Hemel Hempstead Town vs Barnet

The Bees make it four from four in pre-season with the win over Tudors Nick Sandamas reports

Barnet’s impressive pre-season form continued with another win on the road as Nicke Kabamba’s first-half hat-trick made it four from four for Dean Brennan’s impressive outfit.

The match which was preceded by a minute’s applause for former Tudors player Spencer McCall, who sadly died in 2021 of a rare form of bone cancer aged just 26, saw the Bees open the game well with Jon Stead in eight minutes forcing the Tudors. goalkeeper Woody Williamson to knock his shot wide.

Then, on 15 minutes, Kabamba scored the first of the treble. After a Bees corner, Ben Coker saw the ball come back to him, whipped a delicate cross into the box and Kabamba rose to head home.

Ten minutes later the No 9 doubled their advantage as well when Stead delivered an inch perfect pass for the striker to fire low into the net to give the Bees a two goal cushion.

The striker wrapped things up in the 37th minute with Stead once again providing the assist to fire the ball into the net.

George Williams finally got the Tudors on the score sheet in the first half to give the home faithful some cheer and hope in the second half.

For the second half the Bees fielded another eleven and keeper Jordan Gilmore had to be alert early on, doing well to get to the edge of his area and prevent a second goal from the feet of Alfie Cerulli.

With 20 minutes remaining the Bees’ Finley Wilkinson stung the palms of the Tudors keeper and, late on, on two further occasions fell to the hosts but they were not taken and the Bees went home all the happier for as he continues to build fitness ahead of the team. the new season in three weeks.

After the game ended, both sides were photographed together with the Spencer McCall Invitational Trophy in view.

The next step for the Bees is on Monday as they travel to another part of step 2 in Chelmsford City
