  • Everton are keen to ensure Jarrad Branthwaite stays at the club
  • The Toffees have rejected two bids from Manchester United for the defender

Everton are taking extra steps as they try to convince Jarrad Branthwaite to stay at the club.

Branthwaite is the subject of strong interest from Manchester United, who have had two bids turned down for the defender.

United had an initial bid of £35m plus £8m in add-ons for Branthwaite rejected. They later returned with a bid of £45 million plus £5 million in add-ons, which was also rejected.

Everton have stood by their £70million valuation for Branthwaite, who made his England debut against Bosnia and Herzegovina last month.

Branthwaite had agreed personal terms ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford, which would have seen him earn £160,000-a-week.

According to The Mirror, Everton are ready to offer Branthwaite a lucrative new contract as they look to keep him at the club.

Branthwaite currently earns around £40,000 a week, but this will increase significantly.

United spent £52m to sign 18-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro.

In addition, Erik ten Hag’s side are also considering a move for Bayern Munich defender Matthijs De Ligt.

Everton have reportedly informed United that further approaches for Branthwaite are not welcome.
