Get on board – Newquay Park and Ride is back for the summer!

Passengers who buy Newquay Park and Ride tickets this summer will be able to use their tickets on all city bus services to help reduce congestion in the town centre.

On the site on the A392 opposite Hendra Holiday Park, the service will start on Saturday 20 July and run until Sunday 1 September. Buses will run every 20 minutes from 9:20am to 7:00pm on weekdays and Saturdays and at regular intervals from 9:35am to 7:15pm on Sundays.

It’s free to park on site and passengers can use their park and travel tickets on any Newquay city bus service, which includes Porth and Crantock.

Richard Williams-Pears, Cornwall Council’s cabinet portfolio holder for transport, said:

“Around 1,000 passengers a week used the park and ride last summer, which is great news – and the even better news is that we have enough space for many more!

“As residents will know, the population swells significantly during the summer season, putting pressure on the local road network and car parks. Park and ride provides a regular and reliable service to keep traffic out of the city center and reduce congestion.”

John Fitter, local Cornwall Council member for St Columb Minor and Colan, said:

“I, along with many residents of Qunitrell Downs, welcome the summer arrival of the Newquay Park and Ride and the contribution it makes to reducing the overall volume of traffic flowing into Newquay town centre, particularly during the main summer season when car parking. spaces fill up quickly. Residents in the surrounding area will now be able to take the park and get into Newquay without being caught up in the congestion along Henver or Gannel Roads.”
