A look inside the newly reopened The Ashton pub

A much-loved Bristol pub has reopened to the public after what is being described as a “stunning refurbishment”. Ashton is located close to Ashton Court Estate.

It closed in January after torrential storms caused severe flooding, completely submerging the pub’s cellar and completely decimating its stock. But the popular venue has not only revamped its interior decor, bar, terrace, garden and dining space, but also transformed its menu.

The new menu features a variety of pub classics with “a modern twist” as well as exciting new flavors inspired by the seasons and “the best the countryside has to offer”. There is an array of seasonal specials that change daily, paired with an extensive wine list and craft cocktails.

Head chef Ben Blasdale, who has worked at the pub for six years, runs what is being called the ‘dining experience’. Dishes include rotisserie pork belly, aged steaks and a dedicated vegan menu.

Décor-wise, the interior has been inspired by nature and wildlife and extends to the bar area, which has undergone a makeover that includes wallpaper and seating that surrounds the fireplace. The team say this has all been added to “extend the pub’s social space without compromising its original charm and character”.

The dining area provides an intimate setting for private dining experiences and features globe lighting and a floor-to-ceiling library with a high-back fluted ceiling for “a luxurious feel.” Alongside the warm and cozy new interiors, the pub has a spacious terrace connected to a garden, which will feature new picnic benches illuminated by festoon lighting and umbrellas.

The team add that “the new and improved decor has left no stone unturned, taking inspiration from the UK’s brightest dining and drinking spots.” Managing director Ellis Maton said: “We are delighted with how the refurbishment has turned out.

“After working here for a few years, it’s great to see the space refreshed and stylish. My team and I are delighted to welcome back our regular customers as well as new customers who can see for themselves how great the pub looks and enjoy the new menu and delicious cocktails.”

To make the weekends even more special, guests will be able to indulge in the Wine and Dine Experience, which includes three courses of scallops, steak and the devilish chocolate bomb dessert and a bottle of luxury wine for £100 for two . Additionally, steak dinners at The Ashton on Sundays see diners enjoying a hearty steak with all the trimmings.

There are also plenty of delicious desserts to choose from, including Callebaut Chocolate Crème Brulee and the Mini Dessert & Cocktail option, where you can select your favorite from the miniature desserts on offer and pair it with a classic after-dinner cocktail. Meanwhile, the lunch menu includes dishes under 600 calories, hand-rolled stone-baked pizza and freshly made sandwiches.

The extensive cocktail menu includes classics with a twist such as an Amaretto Sour, everyone’s favorite Martinis and a selection of Spritz.
