Major refurbishment for Brent Civic Center in Wembley

Work has begun on a major refurbishment of Brent Civic Centre, aimed at improving access and modernizing facilities to better meet the needs of the local community.

The redesign will affect several key areas of the centre, including Wembley Library, the Community Centre, the Customer Service Center and the Registration and Nationality space.

The renovations will introduce several key improvements for residents, including a new main entrance on Exhibition Way next to Sainsbury’s for improved accessibility, a refurbished ground floor with a digital hub for online services and private meeting spaces in the Community Hub.

Wembley Library will also have a new children’s area, flexible mezzanine spaces and more study areas. There will also be new flexible space in the Registration and Nationality area for post-wedding or civil partnership celebrations.

Councilor Fleur Donnelly-Jackson, Cabinet Member for Customers, Communities and Culture at Brent Council said: “Our award-winning civic center has served residents and the council well over the past decade. However, much has changed, especially since the pandemic, and it is important for us to adapt to meet the evolving needs of our residents.

“This exciting transformation will allow us to better serve our community by prioritizing those with the most complex needs, creating a more accessible space and providing improved facilities for all to enjoy.”

The renovation is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2024. During the renovations, all services will remain operational, with a temporary library service set up on the first floor. While library events will be relocated, all standard library services will continue to be available.
