Warwickshire woman found dead a month after she went missing at sea

A musician from Warwickshire and her Canadian husband have been found dead in a lifeboat after being missing for a month. The pair had been on a daring journey, but they didn’t go off the radar.

Warwickshire-born Sarah Packwood, 54, and her partner Brett Clibbery, 70, embarked on an ambitious journey across the Atlantic Ocean aboard their yacht. Their lifeless bodies were discovered in a small life raft on the shores of Sable Island, a remote location more than 180 miles off the coast of Nova Scotia, a month after their disappearance.




The couple set off for the Azores on their eco-friendly ship called ‘Theros’, which was powered by wind and solar energy. The circumstances that led to their distress at sea remain unknown, but authorities are now investigating the cause of their untimely deaths.

Brett, originally from Canada, and Sarah reportedly met at a bus stop in London in 2015 and exchanged vows on their yacht a year later. Before embarking on their fateful journey, Sarah expressed her excitement in a video message: “Captain Brett and First Mate Sarah set off on the second leg of The Green Odyssey aboard a 42ft Theros GibSea sailboat. Act on wind and sun. east to the Azores is probably the greatest adventure of our lives so far.”

A poet, musician and Reiki healer, Sarah was also an experienced sailor who honed her skills while at university in England. Following the tragic news, Brett’s son James shared his grief on Facebook, writing: “The last few days have been very difficult,” reports the Mirror.

James Brett Clibbery and Sarah Justine Packwood’s son spoke out amid grief, saying: “My father James Brett Clibbery and his wife Sarah Justine Packwood have sadly passed away. There is still an investigation, as well as a DNA. test to confirm, but with all the news, it’s hard to stay hopeful.”

“They were wonderful people and there is nothing that can fill the void left by their passing, until now inexplicable. Life wouldn’t be the same without your wisdom, and your wife was quickly becoming a beacon of knowledge, and kindness. I miss your smiles, you will be missed forever.
