Anthony Gordon has sent Liverpool a double transfer message, but the next step should be clear

Anthony Gordon has been advised against a move to Liverpool this summer. The Reds were offered the chance to sign the England winger last month but rejected the opportunity as Newcastle proposed a deal which would have seen centre-back Jarell Quansah move the other way.

However, Gordon continues to be linked with a move to his boyhood side and now the former Everton ace has been given some advice. Former Manchester United star Louis Saha has explained why Gordon would be better off staying at Newcastle amid rumors of a move to Liverpool.

“I’m not surprised there is interest in him because he shows the signs of a player who wants to develop as quickly as possible,” Saha told Betfred. “However, I don’t think it’s a good time for him to move because it’s not a good thing to move around frequently to different clubs and he’s only been at St James’ Park for 18 months. I would advise him to stay at Newcastle at the moment. summer.”

Earlier this week, Newcastle CEO Darren Eales insisted the North East club have no intention of letting any key players leave later this summer after successfully beating the June 30 PSR deadline without losing them on Gordon, Bruno Guimaraes or Alexander Isak. In Gordon’s case, however, the player only has a few years left on his contract, so this is unlikely to be the end of the saga.

“Ultimately we had to make the right offers to the club (in terms of PSR) which got us compliant,” Eales said. Chronicle Live. “So from that perspective, we did what we had to do. But we kept what I would say are our core players, the kind of players like (Alexander) Isak, Gordon, Bruno (Guimaraes), Joelinton. — those players who are our core.

“Now it’s a case of OK, with that new cycle in front of us now, how can we look to strengthen ourselves? How can we look to get to the next level?” Asked if Newcastle would start the new season with Gordon, Isak and Guimaraes still at the club, Eales simply replied: “Yes!”

Liverpool.com says: If Gordon wants to move to Liverpool (and indeed he would be a good fit on the left flank at Anfield), all he needs to do is not sign a new contract at St James’ Park. Next summer, with just 12 months left on his deal, Newcastle would lose a lot of leverage when it comes to a potential exit.
