Nottingham Forest’s £15m player shares where he wants to play under Nuno Espirito Santo

Nottingham Forest completed the signing of Elliot Anderson earlier this summer as the club strengthened their midfield options.

Anderson signed for the club for a fee believed to be around £15m – although some reports claim it was considerably more than that.

The City Ground is where the 21-year-old feels he can take his career to the next level and the transfer came out of the blue.

Anderson is busy working hard in Spain as he tries to secure a place in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad for the new season.

Forest fans may be wondering where Anderson will get the nod to play under the head coach and he has now revealed where he would like to play.

Elliot Anderson says where he would like to play for Forest

The youngster has been dubbed ‘The Geordie Maradona’ by Newcastle fans and they are disappointed to see him leave.

Forest did a small deal with Newcastle to allow both clubs to reach the PSR threshold. The Reds took Anderson and the Magpies took Odysseas Vlachodimos.

It’s a bit of a mystery trying to figure out where Anderson will play, and now he’s shared where he’d like to play for the Reds.

He told The Sun (Print Edition; page 58): “At Newcastle, I was in the team and out.

“I just want to show everyone what I can do, I hope to play week in week out and improve my game.

“I can play as a number 8, number 10, left, but hopefully I can establish a position in midfield and provide some creativity and goals.”

Anderson will fight for the middle spot

Midfield is probably one position on the pitch where Forest are well stocked in the new season.

Ibrahim Sangare, Danilo, Nicolas Dominguez and Ryan Yates are all at the club and the addition of Anderson creates quite a battle.

However, Anderson probably offers something a little different to those players and will love to add some creativity and guile to the ranks.

It is quite intriguing that Anderson has come to Forest for regular game time and he clearly believes he will get that under Espirito Santo.

Anderson could prove to be a very useful signing if he breaks into the squad and hits the ground running in the 2024/25 campaign.

He fits the profile of what Forest are looking for this summer in terms of signings and it will be fascinating to see where he stands in front of the Reds.
