The abandoned flat tower catches fire in the middle of the night

An abandoned block of flats caught fire in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 14 May). Two fire engines from Camborne and one from Hayle were sent to the scene along Rosewarne Road, Camborne at 2.24am today.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire on the first floor of the abandoned apartment building and reported seeing smoke pouring into the street. Fire crews used six breathing masks, two hose reels and two safety jets to fight the fire.




The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but it is believed that no one was in the building at the time. Devon and Cornwall Police have been contacted for further information.

A statement from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two appliances from Camborne and one from Hayle attended a call to a fire in a derelict block of flats.

“Crews confirmed there was a fire on the first floor of the building and smoke was coming out when they arrived. Six breathing apparatus, two hose reels and two safety jets were used on the first floor of the building.
