Lambeth shooting victim named Jazmel Patterson-Low

A man shot dead in south London in the early hours of Saturday has been named as Jazmel Patterson-Low.

The 26-year-old was shot in Lambeth and died half an hour after a car dropped him off at hospital at around 02:30 BST.

Police said Mr Patterson-Low, whose cause of death was found to be a single gunshot wound, was shot on the Westbury Estate where a crowd of around 40 people had gathered.

Detectives believe an argument broke out that led to a gun being drawn.

There have been no arrests, but police said the car has been found and is part of the ongoing investigation.

Inspector Martin Thorpe of the Met said: “Approximately 40 people were gathered in and around St Rule Street on Friday night and in the early hours of Saturday morning. A dispute appears to have erupted shortly after 2 a.m., leading to the shooting.

“I am extremely grateful to those who have already come forward to provide information.

“Along with CCTV and forensics, this has provided numerous lines of inquiry which detectives are working around the clock to develop.”

He added that he was sure other people knew what happened and who was responsible for the shooting.

He urged them to come forward or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.

“Some people have already done that – I don’t know who they are, but I have their information and I thank them,” he added.

Det Ch Supt Seb Adjei-Addoh, Senior Officer in Charge of Lambeth Police, added: “Since Saturday morning we have remained in contact with local people and partners in Lambeth.

“We are all horrified by Jazmel’s brutal murder and are working together to protect and support the community.

“Jazmel’s family deserves answers.

“Dedicated police officers, including specialists from across the Met, are determined to do everything we can for them – to bring whoever killed Jazmel to justice and protect the community by taking her killer off the streets.” .
