The French media react to Leny Yoro’s first appearance for Manchester United in pre-season

Manchester United new boy Leny Yoro made his first appearance for the club in pre-season against Rangers.

Sometimes there’s nothing like jumping right into the deep end. Leny Yoro didn’t have time to get nervous about his first Manchester United appearance because it happened so quickly.

Less than 48 hours after Leny Yoro’s transfer to Manchester United was announced, he was pulling on his shirt and lining up in a starting XI.

Yoro, 18, was praised by new team-mate Andre Onana and also singled out for praise on MUTV.

Leny Yoro “debuts” a hit

Leny Yoro’s true debut would come in competitive play, however, this was the next best thing. He helped Manchester United keep a clean sheet in a 2-0 win against Rangers.

Yoro left French side Lille to sign for Manchester United and there is a lot of interest across the Channel in how he fares at his new club.

RMC Sport described the game as a “successful debut for Leny Yoro”, adding “just transferred, already on the pitch”.

Made In Foot described it as a “baptism of fire” for Yoro, noting how he looked “at ease”.

Les Transferts wrote: “Leny Yoro’s future at Manchester United looks bright. At just 18 years old, he has already shown exceptional maturity and talent. If his debut is any indication of what’s to come, the Red Devils can expect to see a new star shine in the Premier League sky.”

While Foot365 noted: “The Frenchman should establish himself as one of the leaders of the Manchester defense this season.”

Positive start for Yoro

It was important for Manchester United to establish Leny Yoro and the match against Rangers was the perfect start for him.

Yoro completed 92 percent of his passes, had 51 touches of the ball, made one block, one clearance and won the only tackle he attempted.

Yoro’s price could easily make people forget how young Yoro is, younger than new teammate Kobbie Mainoo. So can the way he plays.

Like Mainoo, Yoro looks like he has been playing for years and can be an excellent addition to the club.
