Chelsea are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper this summer and Enzo Maresca is believed to be a big admirer of Leicester’s Mads Hermansen.

The Daily Mail’s Midlands correspondent Tom Collomosse says the Dane is valued at around £45m and that Maresca is a “huge admirer” of a player who played a key role in helping the Foxes to the title championship under him last season.

The same report notes the interest saying “it’s unclear whether the admiration will develop into anything more substantial.”

Hermansen is a ball-playing goalkeeper known to suit Maresca’s style of play, making 44 appearances under the manager last season.

A move would mark Chelsea’s second high-profile signing from Leicester, with Maresca as head coach, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall joined the club earlier this window for €35.4m.

The story ties into the FootballTransfers exclusive from earlier this week, where we reported that Maresca had forced a change in transfer strategy to land a new goalkeeper.

After offering Djorje Petrovic to Italian club Genoa and reviewing Robert Sanchez, Maresca has now asked the board to bring in a new name.

Chelsea change transfer approach as Maresca bids for goalkeeper

We’re told Chelsea have decided to leave the job for at least the next window, but in recent days their new head coach, after missing training, has called for a new goalkeeper to be brought in.

Sanchez spent much of last season injured and is expected to remain as Chelsea prepare to make moves in the transfer market.

The Blues have trained to play in a similar set-up to Maresca’s former club Leicester City. The Foxes played with a full-back who moved into midfield and two attacking central midfielders pushing forward in attack.
