What exactly is the metaverse? Herman Narula is one person who might know the answer—or at least how to make money from it.

His London-based metaverse company, Improbable, aims to help individuals and businesses “unleash the full potential of virtual worlds.”

And surely investors have unleashed their wallets to sign up for his plans. In September, Improbable raised $100 million in funding, valuing the company at more than $3 billion.

The Delhi-born Cambridge graduate, who now lives in Barnet, has written a book about the Metaverse called New Frontiers of Human Experience. In it, he argues that, as a species, humans have always inhabited “worlds of ideas” to explore and create common purpose – and his metaverse is just a new high-tech incarnation.
