Arsenal Count The Cost To Beat Leicester

Arsenal would have beaten Leicester but were left to count the cost of injuries to Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey on Tuesday night.

The Gunners boosted their hopes of a top-four finish with a 2-1 win over strugglers Leicester, but manager Arsene Wenger’s immediate concern will be the medical status of two of his key players.

Sanchez, who has just returned from a two-week lay-off with a hamstring strain, picked up a knee problem in the first half at the Emirates Stadium and had to be substituted in the 68th minute.

Ramsey came on as a second-half substitute but lasted just nine minutes before leaving with what Wenger suspected was a recurrence of a hamstring injury.

“Sanchez got a kick in the knee,” Wenger said. “From the moment he got that hit, he was never comfortable.

“I don’t know how long he’ll be out for or if he’ll come out or not. I haven’t seen the doctor.”

On Ramsey, Wenger added: “It looks like (a recurrence of a hamstring injury). I don’t know how bad it is yet. Just visually, it didn’t look good – when a guy immediately stops and sits down. , this is not good news.

“Now there’s a relapse of a couple of muscle injuries and it’s difficult – we haven’t found out why.”

Arsenal, who climbed to fourth, face Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Saturday before traveling to Crystal Palace on February 21 for their next Premier League engagement.
