The ground-breaking event gives people the chance to shape Taunton’s landscape

People are invited to an imaginative event to ‘Shape the Landscape of Taunton’. Community participants can use those world-renowned plastic bricks to reimagine and reshape the city landscape.

This interactive event, inspired by the ground-breaking works of artist Olafur Eliasson, will take place from Tuesday 13 to Friday 16 August from 10.30am to 4pm at The Brewhouse Theatre, TA1 1JL.

The activity is free thanks to support from Taunton City Council and encourages participants of all ages to unleash their creativity by building and deconstructing buildings using only white plastic bricks. The event aims to foster a sense of community and collaboration as participants consider what they currently like about where they live and what they miss. They can build on each other’s creations, transforming the landscape in real time.

Participants will have the opportunity to preserve their creations using a 3D lidar scanning application. These digital replicas will be featured in a special online landscape, allowing the community to celebrate and share their collaborative artwork with a wider audience.

The event promises to be a fun and inspiring experience for families, friends and individuals alike. It provides a unique platform for creative expression and community building, reinforcing Somerset Film’s commitment to promoting the arts and innovation in the region.

Through education, production and exhibition, Somerset Film nurtures talent and creativity, contributing to a vibrant cultural landscape in the region. The Engine Room, their center in Bridgwater, serves as a dynamic space for collaboration, learning and the presentation of innovative work in film and digital media.
