Britain braces for another 30C heatwave next weekend, but only ‘half’ of England hit

UK weather maps have burned bright red – as temperatures return to 30C in a major blast. Maps and charts designed using Met Desk data via WX Charts show the shadow on UK maps and charts turning dark red in a major boost.

WX charts show highs in the 20s and threatening 30C in southern regions on August 2, while northern areas could reach 25C. London, Birmingham and Southampton are set to be the hottest, according to early forecasts.

Jim Dale, of the British Weather Services, said: “A prolonged heatwave is overdue as we haven’t had one this summer. It was always short lived. The expectation would be that we would see a week sometime in August that would provide a warm weather scenario.

“When it will be is difficult to say because it is still a long way off,” he added, as climate change has made forecasting increasingly difficult due to unexpected changes in the weather. It comes as the Met Office issued its August forecast for the areas on the eighth. month of the year.

“Signals at the start of the month are fairly balanced between a mix of westerly flows with occasional set spells turning into slightly favorable spells developing at times during the month, particularly in the south,” the Met Office forecast revealed.

He went on to add: “However, there is still a substantial chance for other types of weather, also with more changeable periods. Over the period as a whole, drier than average conditions are more likely than wetter than average.

“Warmer-than-average conditions are also weakly favored overall, with a slightly increased likelihood of short-lived heat spells.” Looking short-term, its forecast for Monday (July 22) reads: “A cloudy start for many with outbreaks of rain moving east.
