Royal Enfield Guerilla 450: Roadster or Scrambler? – Bike news

The Royal Enfield Guerilla 450 will hit showrooms in India from August 1, while pre-bookings are underway across the country.

Royal Enfield is basking in the glory of its latest launch – the Guerilla 450, which made its debut last week. Based on the Sherpa 450 platform, which underpins the Himlayan 450. Royal Enfield Guerilla 450: What makes it a roadster?

So the question arises what makes the Guerilla a roadster and not a scrambler? The correct definition of a roadster is a road-oriented motorcycle, intended primarily for recreational riding, with comfortable ergonomics, mostly in the city, but also occasionally on the highways. To put it simply, roadsters are an extension of commuter bikes with a sportier intent and long-distance riding capability.

The only scrambler attribute the Guerilla 450 possesses is its dual-purpose, semi-knobby tires that can handle a certain level of soft road even though it’s running on alloy wheels. On the other hand, scramblers are also road-oriented motorcycles that have more than decent off-road capabilities. And if the rider is skilled enough, he/she can even do a bit of trail kicking in a capable scrambler.

A perfect example is the Royal Enfield Scram 411, which is based on the older generation Himalayan 411. The Scram 411 is a typical scrambler, not a hardcore adventurer, but very capable of soft and light off-roading. It has a larger 19-inch front spoked wheel as opposed to the 17-inch alloy offered in the Guerilla. Additionally, suspension travel on the Scram is 190mm and 180mm front and rear respectively.
