The cleaning expert says the £1 item is the ‘secret’ to sparkling, streak-free windows

Windows can be a real hassle to keep clean, it feels like the moment you’ve wiped them, another mark or streak mysteriously appears. However, cleaning guru Neil from Bust The Dust suggested there’s no need to splurge on expensive branded glass cleaners.

Instead, he advises people to “ditch the expensive cleaning solutions” for his top pick for brilliant windows, which cost £1 or less, the Express reports. He said: “It’s incredible how sometimes the most effective solutions are the simplest. My £1 Flawless Windows Hack is proof of that”.

The hack is a simple but effective microfibre cloth which you can find in most supermarkets and online for around £1. At the time of writing, Iceland is offering a pack of three microfibre cleaning cloths for just £1, while Sainsbury’s is selling a pack of four for £2.30 – the equivalent of 57p per cloth.

Neil says this simple item has “revolutionised” window cleaning for many. He said: “Microfibre cloths are designed to trap dirt and dust in their fibres, meaning they don’t just move the dirt around, they remove it entirely.”

The process itself is simple and requires minimal effort. Neil suggests starting with a damp microfiber cloth to wipe down the windows, removing most of the dirt and dust. Next, a dry microfiber cloth is used to polish the window, leaving it shiny and streak-free.

Neil said: “Many people are surprised to learn that you don’t need an expensive, expensive cleaner to get your windows looking their best. Neil said: “In fact, many of the products on the market can leave behind residue that causes streaks. . By just using water and a microfiber cloth, you can completely avoid this problem.”

As well as being a cost-effective and easy way to achieve ‘shiny, streak-free windows’, Neil also points out that his method is ‘eco-friendly’. He said: “Not only is this method efficient and affordable, it is also much better for the environment.
