Rhinos and Giants go head to head in Reserves grade this Saturday

With three games to go in the Reserves season, Leeds Rhinos travel to face Huddersfield Giants at Laund Hill as Tony Smith’s side look to continue their positive run of form, kick off 12pm.

In the build up to a clash with their Yorkshire counterparts, the Rhinos look to draw on a run of wins that has seen them win four of their last five matches. Coming off the back of consecutive defeats to Warrington and Hull KR, Leeds scored 160 points and conceded 30 in big results against London, Bradford and Castleford. Although Hull FC broke their stride on the road in June, the Reserves responded last time out with a 20-12 win over Salford Red Devils.

Watch the highlights below:

Now entering an important part of the year, the Rhinos can apply pressure on the top teams if they can keep up their run of form. Beginning against Huddersfield this weekend, Smith’s side host second place Wigan at AMT Headingley next month in a result that could prove very important should Leeds then beat Wakefield and Wigan lose out to Hull FC in the final round of the season. Both Hull clubs, along with Warrington and Castleford are also vying for a top two spot in a tight finish to the season.

Huddersfield sit a point behind Leeds having won four and drawn one game so far in 2024. Tom Tsang’s side are only one of two clubs to beat Wigan this season as they recently bounced back from defeat to Hull KR to secure a 30-28 result against the Cherry and Whites, but took a blow last time out when they lost out to Leigh Leopards on the road.

Looking at the Giants’ remaining fixtures, they have two tough games in Leeds and current league leader’s St Helens before traveling to face Salford in their final game of the year.

2023’s matchup between the Giants and Rhinos saw Huddersfield leave AMT Headingley with the league points in a one-sided 30-0 affair.
