Alpha Automotive, the authorized distributor of Royal Enfield motorcycles in Nepal, will bring the Himalayan 450.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 marks the second generation of the acclaimed Himalayan series, succeeding its predecessor that boasted a 411cc engine.

Unfortunately, distributors in Nepal have stopped selling the previous Himalayan model. Fortunately, the new Himalayan 450 is slated to arrive soon, promising an exciting upgrade to the adventure bike segment in Nepal.

Furthermore, The Himalayan 450 now incorporates many contemporary features and design elements not seen in the previous model.

Design

The front view of the Himalayan 450 presents an imposing presence characterized by it robust and adventurous design.

Prominent round LED headlight, flanked by protective guards, ensures optimal visibility in various conditions. In addition, the Windshield, mounted just above the headlight protects the rider from blasts of wind.

Moreover, the high front fender and spoked wheels of the bike emphasize its off-road capabilities.

From the side, the Himalayan 450 presents a robust and well-proportioned silhouette. The robust frame, combined with angular fuel tankoffers a perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality.

The the seats have a split design. While the pilot’s seat is designed for comfort, the passenger seat does not offer the same level of comfort. There is the rear rack that provides additional utility for carrying gear.

The side profile also reveals the bike’s rear suspension system, which is a Link type Monoshock.

Performance

The Himalayan 450 is powered by a 452cc DOHC single cylinder liquid cooled 4 valve engine. It can generate a maximum power of 40 PS at 8000 rpm and a maximum torque of 40 Nm at 5500 rpm. Moreover, it is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a massive fuel capacity of 17 liters.

The Himalayan 450 has a completely new engine produced by Royal Enfield and it is called the Sherpa 450.

The things that really make the Himalayan 450 stand out are the double overhead camshaft, forged piston, aluminum bore and a higher compression ratio than the previous model.

According to our sources, this model will be assembled at Royal Enfield’s facility located in Simara, Bara.

As for its availability, motorcycle enthusiasts can expect the Himalayan 450 to make its debut at the 2024 NADA Auto Show.

Talking about the competition, the updated Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 rivals the KTM 390 Adventure with its new engine and features.

In terms of performance, the The KTM 390 Adventure boasts a higher power output of 44 bhp compared to the Himalayan 450’s 40 bhp.

However, the Himalayan 450 offers a higher torque of 40 Nm, beating the KTM 390 Adventure’s 37 Nm. Furthermore, the Himalayan 450 manages this power and torque at a lower rev than the 390 Adventure, offering better low-end performance.

In the features segment, The KTM 390 Adventure has a clear edge with its advanced features like Traction Control, Cornering ABS, Off-Road ABS and Quick Shifter, which the Himalayan 450 lacks.

That said, the Himalayan 450 still offers a range of useful features typical of an adventure bike.

Moreover, the Himalayan 450 has always been more accessible to consumers, meeting the essential criteria for an adventure bike.

In contrast, the 390 Adventure is at the top end with a comparatively higher price tag.
