An elderly man accused of murdering his wife in their Surbiton home

An elderly man has been accused of murdering his wife in their home.

Police were called to a residential address on Raeburn Avenue after a woman was found unresponsive around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 19.

She was pronounced dead at 9.32am.

Sharp, 80, was arrested at the scene and charged with murder on Saturday, July 20.

A post-mortem examination was held on the same day and found the cause of death of his wife Jenny Sharp, 80, to be “manual compression of the neck”.

No one else is wanted in connection with the murder.

Today (Monday, July 22) Sharp will appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court.
DCI Howie said: “This is a terribly sad case.

“The family are being supported by specialist officers and we ask that their privacy is respected at this incredibly difficult time.”
