Armed officers rushed to a residential street in Lambeth after a gunman fired at boys in a car

Armed officers swarmed a residential street in south London after witnesses saw a gunman open fire on a group of boys from a car.

Police were called shortly before 9.30pm on Wednesday to reports of shots fired in Adelaide Close, Lambeth.

Specialist search teams were sent to the scene and a bullet casing was recovered.

Officers are scouring CCTV footage around the scene for the shooter.

No arrests have been made.

“A statement from the Met said: “An investigation is underway after a firearm was discharged in a residential street in Lambeth.

“Police were called at 9.24pm on Wednesday 17 July to reports of a firearm being discharged in Adelaide Close, SW9. Officers responded and found a bullet at the scene. “Witnesses say a man with a gun in a vehicle shot at a group of boys who were on the street. “They were not injured. No arrests have been made at this time. Inquiries into the circumstances are continuing.” Detective Inspector Raymond Sekalongo from Trident said: “We would like to reassure the public that our investigation is ongoing as we seek to identify those responsible for this discharge of the firearm.
