Sheffield United have been named as one of the clubs expected to sign the player – Two-club race

Sheffield United are still in the race to sign Besiktas attacking midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to a claim in Turkish media.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move to Bramhall Lane in recent weeks but faces competition from his former club Southampton.

Fotomac have reported on the latest developments regarding Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future as Besiktas look to offload him this summer. Sheffield United, along with Southampton, are claimed to be the clubs he could sign for in this window.

It has again been reported that Sheffield United are in transfer talks to sign the former Liverpool man as they look to return to England. Oxlade-Chamberlain only joined Besiktas last summer as a free agent but failed to make an impact during his debut season in Istanbul.

With the Black Eagles looking to get the player off the wage bill, there is a chance the Blades could bring him in on a free transfer.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made 30 appearances for Besiktas last season, scoring 4 goals. He is contracted to the club until June 2026.
